London, December 8 (Petra) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held discussions at Downing Street with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the developments in the war in Ukraine and the prospects for peace negotiations.

In a statement issued by the British Prime Minister's office, the leaders underscored the importance of the US-led talks aimed at strengthening European security.

They affirmed their support for the progress made so far and tasked their national security advisors with continuing consultations in the coming days to advance efforts toward a just and lasting peace that guarantees Ukraine's security.

According to the statement, the discussions touched on the urgent need to bolster military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. The leaders welcomed progress on the initiative to utilise frozen Russian sovereign assets to support Ukraine's reconstruction.

The leaders emphasised that the current phase is "decisive," calling for intensified international support for Ukraine and increased economic pressure on Russia. They agreed to maintain coordination and follow-up efforts in the coming period.
